Original Poem: “Planet Step”

Light gleams

Off the edges

Round and smooth.

Atmospheric gases swirl

Lava spurts and tendrils burn.

Set my feet down,

On the surface.

Rocks stretch,

Far into the distance.

Dips and hills,

Red, black, and grey.

Step over the line,

Into the shadowed darkness.

See nothing,

But a black hole,

Of nothingness.

Stand there,

For ages.

Light seeps in around me.

The planet spins.
