I was super excited to read this, the third and final book in the series. After reading the second book, which was thrilling, I was looking forward to finishing the series and finding out what happened to the characters I had come to love. The book actually started out wonderfully. There was a bit of a lull in the middle for me, but I pushed through and the last quarter of the book was very exciting (read in between moments celebrating Easter). Warning: There are spoilers from the first two Peculiar Children books in this review.
Title: Library of Souls
Author: Ransom Riggs
Age Group: Middle and high schoolers
My Rating: 4/4 stars
Jacob and Emma are now stranded with Addison. The peculiar children have been taken and the ymbrynes are all gone as well. They catch a ride with Sharon, a mysterious man with dark secrets, into Devil’s Acre. This loop is where the wights’ stronghold is located. Emma and Jacob meet Miss Peregrine’s other brother who offers to help them rescue the ymbrynes and children from Caul. They begin to make plans for this, but Jacob’s powers are hard to control and Devil’s Acre is full of unsavory characters. By the end, many people’s secrets have been disclosed.
This book’s climax seemed to last forever. Normally you might not think this was a good thing, but in the case of this book, it definitely was. I was glued to its pages (not literally or my friend would’ve had a fit at me ruining her book). I would definitely suggest this book because it is exciting and is a perfect end to the trilogy. If you have read the first two books, then why aren’t you reading this already?! : P
Happy Reading!
