Welcome to a writing prompt! Sit down in a quiet space, pencil in hand, and let your mind explore. Or just read what my mind came up with:
OOoooh baby, yeah, I’m under your spell
Don’t you know it didn’t take long to tell
Yeaaah baby I’m under your spee-eh-eeell
I pushed my forehead against the car window and stared out at the rolling fields. When the radio first came on, I’d shoved my headphones on and blasted something cooler than BBC Radio 2, but then my eyes had started to droop. My headphones were off now and I was only half listening. Mostly, I was looking.
The sun had come out and was casting deep shadows at the bottoms of the hillocks we were whizzing by. Fields of flowers and cows with shaggy hair were floating outside and also inside my eyes when I closed them for a moment.
Time seemed to pause, despite our continuance at seventy miles per hour. I couldn’t hear the sappy songs or my parents discussing our next rest stop. All I could see was the strands of purple heather peering out at me.
You really have got me under your spell.
I wonder if that’s what you intended or whether you didn’t mean for it to happen. I don’t think I’ll ever know, but keep me trapped.
I’ll delight in your spell and its fresh spring showers, the clean bright air I could sit and smell for hours. I’ll be held by your beaches and pushed by your winds. At night you can lull me to sleep with your birds’ melodies. When at last I am asleep I still won’t be free, for there you are in my dreams as keen as can be.
Thanks for reading! I hope you are feeling fabulous as we are approaching the spring months–I know I am! 🙂 Happy reading and writing 2019–Let’s fly together!
