Poetry

Original sonnet poem: “Banana Peel”

There I sat enjoying my lunch that day

The table behind me was quite rowdy

It had started out as a perfect day

Only the people behind were pouty.

One thing led to another suddenly

My lunch looked quite different than before

That table was a mess of arms and knees

Perhaps yellow clouds had begun to pour.

In my salad was a banana peel

No I am not making this story up

Ev’ry word I have said is very real

I turned slowly, letting go of my cup.

They looked at me and then I looked at them

I shrugged and swore not to sit there again.
