Alright females of the blogosphere-the day has come for me to talk about how to deal with having your period and being waste-free at the same time!! Most people use one-time tampons or pads, which creates quite a lot of waste over each lifetime. However, it actually seems quite unnecessary to use these packaged products that you can only use once when there are a variety of options out there that could potentially last you your lifetime. I mean in the long run you’d be saving money, too! So here is a list of the top three ways to have a zero-waste period. If you know of any others, let me know in the comments below!
- Menstrual cups: These are long lasting cups that are super easy to use, take up very little space, and are a great replacement for tampons. They are especially ideal for anyone who does sports!
- Period underwear: Several brands (Modibodi, Thinx, Flux, and Ruby are ones I have discovered online) have now been created that provide underwear specially for women to wear during their period! I haven’t tried these, but apparently it is just like wearing normal underwear!
- Reusable pads (I recommend Heartfelt or you can check out Lunapads): These are just like other period pads, but they are reusable!!
Thanks for reading and I hope this was helpful! I know I feel much better knowing that my period isn’t causing waste anymore!
