Hi I’m Mayah! (Do me a favor and pronounce it right, like may-ah) Thanks for that!
I’m a British-American teen who loves to read. I mean, I like other things in the arts too (i.e. writing, singing, acting, etc.) but reading is the most prominent in my life. I created this blog because I wanted to share a bit of me with the world.
Since I am a book nerd I will focus primarily on book reviews, but I might do other types of reviews, or other things all together to keep it exciting. Please feel free to also share any of your favorite titles with me (I might even review one of them). Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my blog!
How this came to be
It all started when I was 3 years old. Everyday my parents would read to me. I totally loved it. Soon, I started really picking up the words and would point ones out I recognized and remembered from the last time. Then, when I was five, I picked up a book by myself and was so ready for this exciting adventure to truly begin. Before long I had managed to teach myself to read (possibly the most notable achievement in my life so far).
It wasn’t long thereafter that I was writing under the kindergarten teachers’ instruction. Voila! (Yay French) I had discovered another thing that would change my life forever. Ever since, I’ve had a long and beautiful relationship with books and writing.
Another life changing event happened around early 2016: I was suddenly introduced to popular music. Surprisingly, this was my first encounter with music being at my disposal that wasn’t from before the 90’s and I was instantly enraptured. Eventually this led to an increased interest in social media and the internet. I spent the following months listening to music and staring at a screen for most of the day when I wasn’t at school. Reading became a secondary priority.
Finally, in March 2017, I woke up. There were still so many good books out there waiting for me to read (and write 😉)! Reading has become a priority again. And I’ll tell you a secret: I’ve been happier ever since.
Creation of Library in My Mind
You might be wondering why the heck this blog is called “Library in my mind.” The moment I had the idea to start this blog, I knew that the word library was one of the perfect words to explain what I was trying to accomplish. Once I had this figured out I used my vast powers of imagination to finish the name. Note: powers of imagination in this case were me sitting around and writing down random words in the hope one of them would click.
Eventually, one of them did click: Mind. The idea of my mind being a library or even the perception of having a library in my mind was, and still is, I think, a very intriguing concept. And so ‘twas born.
