Book Review: “The Conference of the Birds”

I was pretty excited to read this book, since I've been a fan of the series for several years. When the fourth book came out, I was actually rather surprised because it had seemed like the series was over. I ended up really enjoying the fourth book (almost more than the original series actually) and so this fifth book was one I waited somewhat impatiently for. In the meantime, I reread the first three books, since I was starting to forget what had happened. I loved them even more than the first time I read them! Now I've read this next peculiar novel and I have some mixed feelings...

Book Review: “Stop Missing Your Life”

NOTE: I received this book for free from BookishFirst and this didn't affect the honesty of my review.  I won a copy of this book from BookishFirst, which is an amazing forum where you can win free books (mainly Advanced Copies) to review! I wasn't expecting to win it necessarily, but I think it was meant to be because I ended up absolutely loving this read despite my normal aversion to nonfiction! Lately I've been trying out more self-help books to read before bedtime and I've actually been really enjoying it. If you have any suggestions, let me know! Now, onto the review!...

Book Review: “Anansi Boys”

I had absolutely no idea what to expect going into this book. I'd recently read The Graveyard Book graphic novel and had enjoyed it a fair amount, though it wasn't a new favourite. I did think that this book would be original and certainly very interesting, which proved to be correct. But, similarly to The Graveyard Book, this also isn't a new favourite. In fact, I have to sadly announce that this review is on a book that I DNF'd (Did Not Finish). However, if you still want to hang around and hear why, then I'd love that!...

Favourite Fictional Couples

Welcome back! I've taken a few days off blogging and now I feel much more on track and ready to roll again. Since this past Friday was Valentines day, I decided that this post would be a fitting one to write! This list is compromised of my favourite fictional couples of all time from books, which actually wasn't too hard to narrow down since the only romance books I read are ones that are also fantasy or some other genre as well. Let me know if you love any of these couples too!...

Monthly Wrap-Up January 2020

This is a little late, I know, and my February TBR will be coming out tomorrow, but it is here nonetheless and I have many fantastical things to share! I have quite a long book haul despite the fact that I have this post about some recents additions to my shelf as well, but I've put some of the books together into a classic group for (hopefully) easier reading!  Also a quick announcement is that I am changing my posting schedule again. I've honestly been...

Book Review: “Dangerous Alliance”

As promised, today I am reviewing Dangerous Alliance! I interviewed the author of this novel this past Monday, so you can check that out at this link first if you'd like. Or you could just stay here and read my thoughts on the book, which was my first read of the year!! The suspense had really built up before I read it, as it often seems to with debut books for me, and I'm so glad it didn't disappoint! I think I've gotten better at picking books to read that I will like over the years :P. Anyway, onto the actual review!...

Top Ten Tuesdays

Top Ten Tuesday: “Books On My TBR I Predict Will Be 5-Star Reads”

Welcome to the first Top Ten Tuesday of February! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly listing book meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where participants list their top ten responses to the prompt. This week's prompt is one that I anticipated to be very difficult, because I don't often put books on my TBR that I think I won't enjoy, but I started at the top and listed some that stood out to me!...

Book Review: “The Graveyard Book (Graphic Novel)”

This book was given to me for Christmas this year and I started reading it that very same day (come on--you aren't really surprised, are you?). I don't read many graphic novels and haven't read the original version of this novel, but I like reading something outside of my norm (in fact, it is something I want to do more of this year) and so I was excited to give this book a go. If you like graphic novels or have enjoyed other books by this author then stick around and you might end up with a new book on your TBR! :P...
